Dry skin around eyes can be a hinderance in your everyday life. You wake up and the first thing you see in the mirror is the dry skin under your eyes. The flakes, redness, itchiness. Do people think I look older than I really am? This thought runs through your mind every time you stare back at yourself. Not only do you see it, but you feel it.

Dry Skin Around Eyes

The skin around your eyes is really thin and delicate. This means the dry skin around eyes can lead to redness and irritation. Not only can it be painful, but it emphasizes signs of aging. It can make you look older than you really are.

There are a number of conditions that can cause the dry skin around eyes: sunburn, blepharitis, perioral dermatitis, eczema, climate conditions, stress, and even contact with harsh chemicals.

Here are 3 natural solutions for dry skin around eyes.

1. Neem Clay Mask

The Neem Clay Mask is made with a lotion base. This base hydrates leaves your skin soft. Not like other clay masks that may dry out your skin, this one will draw in moisture and make your skin supple. The glycerin helps maintain your skin’s water balance. There are 3 phases of a clay mask. There’s a damp phase, start of the dry phase, and eventually the dry phase. The damp phase is important because that is when your skin soaks in the beneficial minerals. The start of the dry phase stimulates blood flow and draws out impurities. The clay mask begins to cool your skin and contract. The last phase, the dry phase, draws out moisture from your skin and causes dehydration.

Here’s a tip. Do the touch test.

When you start to see it dry, usually when the color gets lighter, touch it and if it’s a bit sticky, start to rinse and wash it off. You’ll end up with moisturized, supple skin!

I tried the sample I received with my order. I love it. I usually don’t use clay masks because I have dry skin, but this left my skin feeling more toned, and dewy soft, not drying at all. Highly recommend!” -Tanya

2. Glycerin Soap

Glycerin soap is much gentler than most other soaps. This makes it good for people who have sensitive or dry skin. Glycerin has a lower pH than other soaps, which helps your skin retain its natural moisture. Glycerin is a humectant, which means that it attracts moisture. Your skin is provided constant hydration. Glycerin soap can even be used with skin problems like eczema or psoriasis. Glycerin soaps don’t irritate the skin or create negative reactions. Other soaps will make your skin feel tight, flaky and dry. Using glycerin soap on a regular basis can help your skin become more soft and supple. Use glycerin soap when washing the dry skin around eyes. Any other soap will make your situation worse.

3. Neem Lotion

Moisturizing dry skin around eyes regularly is key to relieving your flaky, irritated skin. What’s more important is that you find a moisturizer with the right ingredients. Key ingredients to look for are-

  • Jojoba Oil– is non-allergenic, non-comedogenic, and non-toxic. Meaning, it does not cause allergic reactions as it is a natural wax that is the closest to the oils on our skin. It does not clog pores, and it will not irritate. It’s extremely safe to use. It’s also very high in Vitamin E. Vitamin E is known to deeply moisturize skin and protect it from cracking.
  • Coconut Oil– is an all-natural moisturizer. When it is absorbed into your skin it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by helping to keep your connective tissues supple and very strong. It also exfoliates the outer layer of dead skin cells, which, in return, makes your skin smoother.
  • Glycerin– is called a humectant, meaning that it attracts water. When you apply it to your skin, it seals in moisture that might otherwise escape. Glycerin helps maintain your skin’s water balance.
  • Neem Oil– is full of Vitamin E, omega-9 and omega-6 fatty acids, and palmitic acid. These oils play a key role in repairing your skin. They are effective oils that lock in moisture where it belongs, which is inside your skin cells.
